In the Star Oct 14th 2010 ( Thurs) it was announced that after the years of delay, the diversion tunnels will be closed off and flooding will begin. Even to the end bad luck stuck to this project. The unusual rains this year delayed the flooding as the engineers have to wait for a few dry dry days for the river flow to slow before they can shut the gates.
Now it remains to be seen if anything is being done by the SFC to rescue the doomed animals.
